I just got home from the show in Toronto and had to post this before I went to bed.
I'm not even sure where to start. I ran into traffic and an accident on the way and didn't think I was actually going to make it,but I did.
My seat was in the fourth row, in front of Hugh with a direct line of sight to the white mic. My fan pit bracelet was for Richie's side. The guys come out and are obviously in a good mood, having fun, sounding great. They did some older ones - Wild is the Wind, Captain Crash, I've got the Girl.
When it's time for me to line up for the fan pit, I planned my strategy. I've learned not to try to get up front, but aim for the side - particularly with the new stage setup.
So there I am along the stage, getting some decent pics of Richie and keeping an eye on Jon's wanderings. For any of you who have been to a show recently you'll know what I mean about the back part of the stage that raises and lowers. Jon was up there playing to the crowd at the back then turned and came down to where I was in the pit. As he's shaking my hand I can see his lips moving - but he's not singing. I figure that he's saying "Yeah Go Sou!" and I'm thinking "what is he talking about?" Then I remember that I'm wearing my Soul jersey and realize that he's talking to me!
After he wanders around the front of the stage for awhile he comes back to us again. The girl beside me has a scarf that he takes and wraps around his head like a blindfold. I don't really know what happened next, but all of a sudden he loses his balance and starts to fall. We catch him and help him sit on the stage where he sits and laughs. If he had been wearing underwear I could have read the size and make and given him a wedgy! As it was I had to satisfy myself with stroking his back and the piece of skin showing between shirt and pants.
After he moves away I went back to taking pics of Richie and realized I had a great shot of David. I leaned over the stage a little and took the shot. When I lowered the camera I saw David smile and nod at me!
Yep, all in all it was a hell of a show, and well worth the money. I also met a couple girls who are going to come and check out this site.
Now I can go to bed. I used up all my batteries, so I'll post some pics tomorrow after I get more.
Oh! I almost forgot! Tico has hurt his back. Jon said he was playing in a back brace and needles (I'm assuming accupuncture) and was in a lot of pain. Hope he's better soon!
