After reading's Alice's review of her show in Charlotte I thought I'd give mine for the Nashville show! OMG...where do I start?? Ok, I am going to start when my vacation started!!
Sandy(madhouse) got here the Friday before the concert! We had such a great time the days before the concert. I showed her around my parts of Kentucky. Took her out to one of my favorite chinese restaurants! My mom cooked her one of her famous meatloaf dinner's one night here at home!! Yummy!! I asked Sandy to pick a Jon movie to watch and she picked The Leading Man...NOTHING wrong with that!!! Then her last night here we watched Old Dogs!!! Have you seen it?? We were busting at the seams!!! It's sooo funny!!
Anyways..the date we'd been waiting for was finally here. I had waited since October for Nicholas to make it to this concert! It was his Christmas/birthday present and he was soooo ready!! We had to be at the airport to get Bethy Lou at 10:10. After we missed out exit, FeeFee(my GPS) got us there with plenty of time to spare!! It was beautiful in Nashville the day of the concert. After picking Beth up at the airport we went to the hotel where Beth and I were going to be staying till Saturday! We weren't there very long. We all changed and got freshened up. Then we headed downtown. Not a big fan of the downtown. I am no city girl!! That is the reason we got there so early so that we could get a pretty good parking spot. The last Jovi show there we had to park like 2 blocks away!! This time we were able to park freely, thanks to Sandy, there beside the arena!! We got parked at like 1:30...maybe a little later but not alot. We we all hungry so we went to the bar there infront of the arena. I cannot remember the name of it. We took our time eating and talking. After we got done Sandy decided to stay by the arena while Beth, Nick, and I walked around more. We walked down to the Hard Rock thinking Beth was going to be able to get one of the Bon Jovi shirts there but they were out of her size when we got there!! After we made it back to the arena, we got some tshirts and talked to Sandy till they opened the doors. Beth got her shirt and I let Nick pick him out a shirt. He picked the Soul shirt. I had me onw picked out, the one the had Still Kicking Ass on the back of it, but they didn't have my size out there so I ended up not getting a shirt. Atleast Nick got him one. Beth's phone was dead....DEAD so we all stood by her and an outlet inside the arena while her phone charged. Finally Stacy was there. Her husband and her daughter Emily also came to the show. They had seats behind the stage. From where Nick, Beth, and I were sitting I saw them!!! Stacy was wearing a bright shirt! It was hard to miss!!!
After Beth got another shirt and I fought the urge to get me one, we finally made it to our seats!!! The opening act was alright. Knew nothing that they sang until the sung a remake of Bryan Adams Summer of 69! It actually sounded pretty good to me! Nick didn't know it but alot of the other people did that was there! It's about time for the main event. We all had something to drink. I had fresh batteries in my camera, my phone was ready to call whomever I chose to! The lights go down and we go crazy!!! Blood on Blood was awesome! It was something for me to look over at my 13 year old nephew and see him singing along word for word!! I was so proud!! I think my highlight of the evening was Hallelujah and A Whole Lot of Leavin' Going On. I loved it when during AWLOLGO when Richie said "You got it." Then Jon said, "You got it." Then they said together, "We got it!" That was fun to see!!! There is nothing I can say about Hallelujah that hasn't already been said. I was in tears and had chills all over. It was the best. As I am writing this more great moments are coming to mind!! I am pretty sure that Nick's highlight was Bad Medicine and Wanted!! It was awesome to see the guys out on the catwalk when they played Something For the Pain! I had never heard a song from These Days. Sandy sure was glad to get Keep the Faith again!!! I wonder if she took 98 picture's of it?!!?!?! We Got It Going On was awesome!! The stage part was unbelievable! I did call my mom during It's My Life! That's her song!! I had my phone laying on my leg while my camera videotaped the song! Beth was happy to see Jon and Richie do I'll Be There for You. I think that if Richie had sang it instead of Lay Your Hands on Me, I would have worn a bruise for a few days!! Speaking of LYHOM, I had never heard it at a concert either!! It was great to hear Richie sing it, but it would not have bothered me a bit to have had Richie sing I'll Be There For You!!! Another awesome highlight was Love's the Only Rule! I videotaped that song. I hadn't ever heard that song until Sandy got here and made me listen to all of The Circle!! Thanks Sandy!! Nick's made me listen to Work for the Working Man till it's about growed on me! He doesn't like When We Were Beautiful. I told him that he was crazy!!!
It was an awesome night. A night that I texted my sister and said that I'd cry about it in 30 years. When we are sitting around the dinner table talking about Nick's first concert with no parents. He told me after the concert that it was the best Christmas/Birthday present ever. And THAT made my night. When we finally made it out of the arena, we took Sandy to the bus station. It wasn't very far from the arena. It was sad to see her go but I know she was ready cause she had another show in NC!!!
Beth, Nick, and I then headed to our hotel. We had to bring Nick home the next day! I brought Beth here to my house for a little while. We put all the picture's and video's that I had taken at the concert on a disc for her. Then after visiting for a little bit, we headed back down to our hotel. Made a few stops on the way. Had to get my check and then we went to Wally World to get some snacks for the hotel room! Friday we went back downtown. Went to the Country Music Hall of Fame but we got there ten minutes before it closed. But was got to go into the giftshop. Beth got Noah and Janie a shirt. I had discovered the night before that I hadn't packed enough of a certain type of clothing so after we got out of the giftshop we had to find a Wal Mart!!! Wasn't there very long. Then we went to the movies and watched The Last Song. Don't go see that movie without some kleenexes!!! You'll need them!! We went after the movie looking for a Waffle House!! After 2 tries we finally find one!!
When Saturday morning came around, it was storming! Beth called and checked on her flight and as of right then it was on time. Which was 4:05. We went to an IHOP for lunch/breakfast and then I headed to the airport. I had never drove in Nashville by myself and I was really nervous about it. I probably would have handle it better if it hadn't been storming. I got Beth to the airport at around 1:45. I stayed with her till about 2:30 but then I had to head home. I was sooo nervous but I finally made it out of there and so did Beth. I think her plane finally took off at 6 something!!!
It was a great vacation! Even though my favorite sunglasses made it all the way to England!! Before the concert I took my contacts out cause they were starting to bother me a bit and i didn't want to have to take them out during the concert. Sandy offered to keep my sunglasses in her bag till after the concert! Well we both forgot that she had them till later that night! But I am not worried at all. I know she's taking care of them! I can't wait to the next vacation...which is in July when my sister and I are driving to Chicago for 2 more shows!
